Rugged Systems

The US Army and NASA both needed to store massive amounts data from satellite images. The US Army also needed the data storage to be rugged for deployment in HUMVEES and a portable rugged unit to be carried by individual soldiers. They also require a COTS rugged disk array for deployment in stationary shelters.

Large Volumes of Satellite Data

The US Army acquires terrain data for analysis of battlefield conditions whereas NASA acquires the data for atmospheric monitoring of climate change. Both applications require storing large quantities of data – and to record fast while the satellite is physically positioned over the ground station in robust and reliable RAID disk arrays.
