Winchester Systems Announces New Mid-range SATA Storage Array
Expandable SATA Supports 8 Direct-Attached Fibre Channel Hosts and 25 TB

Burlington, MA. February 1, 2005. Winchester Systems, Inc., a leading data storage solutions company, today introduced a new RAID array capable of supporting up to eight direct-attached Fibre Channel hosts and 25 terabytes of secondary storage. Geared towards the mid-range storage environment, the FlashDisk SA-3400 is an expandable, low cost, fully redundant SATA storage system for higher availability environments.

"The SMB market is demanding scalable Serial ATA storage with higher levels of availability to address price sensitive workgroup computing applications or to combine secondary storage and disk-to-disk back up within a single system," stated Dave Geene, Vice President of Sales at Winchester Systems. "The SA-3400 does just that by offering redundant controllers, expansion to 25 TB, and the same low cost "SAN-in-a-Box" connectivity that we offer in many of our systems."

"Our customers can combine the high performance, high reliability Western Digital Enterprise SATA drives, with standard high capacity SATA drives to create different levels of service within a single SATA system," stated Jan Sutton, Product Marketing Manager. "The SA-3400 is part of our 3400 Series that includes the Fibre Channel FC-3400. Customers now have a choice of deploying either an E-SATA/SATA solution, or an intermixed Fibre/SATA solution, depending on their budget and application requirements."

FlashDisk SA-3400 supports single or dual redundant 64-bit RAID controllers for maximum data availability and protection. It is ideal for combining workgroup computing, digital media, archive, disk-to-disk backup or nearline storage needs. It is compatible with any server or operating system, with no requirement for host software drivers. With hot-swappable components, including controllers, disk drives, power supplies, fans, and AC power inlets, FlashDisk SA-3400 offers a robust design to meet mid-range as well as enterprise class data storage or backup requirements.

Included with every data storage solution is the FlashConsole appliance, providing complete centralized management using any browser-based workstation on the LAN. FlashAlert, a 24-hour "call-home" remote monitoring and alert service is also included for one year.

Pricing and Availability: Product is available within 3 weeks, with list pricing starting at under $15,000.
