Winchester Systems Expands Its FlashDisk® OpenSAN Product Line
Tiered storage solution scales to 112 terabytes

Burlington, MA. January 19, 2006 - Winchester Systems, Inc., a leading data storage solutions company, today introduced the new FX-700 FlashDisk OpenSAN with double the internal bus speed of the previous generation and capable of scaling to 112 terabytes while accommodating both Fibre Channel (SBOD based) primary and SATA secondary storage within the same physical storage array. This new storage array is designed for midrange and enterprise data storage environments requiring the highest levels of performance and availability while seamlessly supporting both primary and secondary data storage.

"The FX-700 is our fastest tiered storage solution with full Enterprise Class availability features," stated Dave Geene, the company's vice president for sales and marketing. "We employ a point-to-point connectivity architecture to all disks in the system whether Fibre Channel or Serial ATA. This SBOD (switched bunch of disks) architecture eliminates bus contention related issues associated with Fibre Channel arbitrated loop and therefore ensures the maximum possible performance, reliability and availability in a storage system." There are many other high availability features in the system such as separate host I/O connections from the RAID controllers that ensure no disruption of host connectivity if a RAID controller requires replacement, and the ability to do non-disruptive firmware upgrades which ensures true 7x24 continuous uptime.

Included with every FlashDisk data storage solution is the FlashConsole appliance, providing complete centralized management using any browser-based workstation on the LAN. FlashAlert, a 24-hour "call-home" remote monitoring and alert service is also included for one year.
