FlashDisk Customer Profile As Told By Taubman “About a year ago, we had one of the first Compaq 6000 superservers with 18.2GB drives in a RAID 5 configuration. Frequently individual drives would go offline. To keep the drive from failing completely, we had to pull it out and push it back in. Also, the RAID 5 capability allowed the system to decrypt the RAID segment of that particular offline drive. This model drive apparently had this quirk and Compaq eventually came out with an 18.2GB drive. For the past six months, Winchester's FlashDisk, along with its upgrades, has been the Logistics IS department's sole storage resource. It has allowed us to get the most for our money, and to retain our computer system and software longer than we had anticipated.
